Hola desde Ecuador!
Yesterday the two Ecuador Community Service groups came together for an epic soccer game under the gaze of the three volcanoes towering over our communities: Cotacachi, Imbabura, and Cayambe. Our group took a bus to Iltaqui, where the other group has been living for the past two weeks. The match had even more drama than the world cup final between France and Croatia. The Iltaqui crew took an early 2-0 lead at the half. During the second half, our very own Connorcito Wawa (Connor) scored two amazing goals to make the score 2-2 by the end of 90-minutes. We decided on the golden goal rule – 10 minutes of overtime to break the tie. Lilly put an impressive shot into the back of the net to end the game 3-2. Throughout the second half and overtime, Nathan, for his first time in goal, didn’t let in a single shot. Both sides celebrated with some sandwiches, fruit and chips under the setting sun. It was fantastic afternoon of football and swapping stories about our unique experiences.
