Hola desde Ecuador, one last time!
Dear group:
If you are reading this it is because you are probably already home, your bags are still packed and you still can’t believe you will be sleeping in your own bed tonight. We are writing this as we are waiting in line for our flight to Miami, enjoying seeing you as a group for one last night.
We wanted to thank you for an epic month. We have made some incredible memories, from jumping into frigid mountain lakes surrounded by volcanoes, to horseback riding, to conquering the freezing amd majestic Cotopaxi, to gazing at the stars around the bonfire in Cajas. We had the privilege to gain a window into Ecuadorian culture through a shared experience with beautiful people. Remember them and tell their story to everyone who will listen.
Also remember the incredible moments and don’t sugar coat the lows. Intercultural exchange is hard. Expectations almost certainly won’t always align when interacting with a new person or a new group of people. Learning this lesson now will serve you well as you move into the next chapter of your lives. Remember the platinum rule: treat others as they want to be treated.
We hope you enjoyed this month as much as we did. We will miss you and think of you often. Like we’ve said before, dont hesitate to reach out in the future, we will always smile and enjoy knowing a little bit about your lives. Know that you can count on us and we will always be there to help you with what we can, just like we did during these 28 days.
Dear families, thank you for allowing us to have this journey with your children. As you all know by now, they are all pretty amazing and we were honored to travel with them. Thank you for following this blog and our adventures, we hope you use this blog one more time with your kids to go over everything we lived but this time, hear everything them their perspective.
Sending lots of love from this airport line! #type2fun
Always,
Lawrence and Juliana
